The proximity to the Tuscan coast and the conformation of the Bolgheri production zone generate a unique and special temperate microclimate, with significant ventilation that guarantees an ideal temperature range for growing grapes and a particular brightness that benefits the phenolic ripening of the grapes.
Production zone BOLGHERI
The whole production zone of the Bolgheri DOC appellation covers an area of 1379 hectares and comprises over six million bottles, distributed among 75 wineries.
The soils of Bolgheri are sandy-clayey, alkaline, deep and characterised by plenty of stone, in which it is often possible to note the presence of fossil fragments like small shells, also on the surface. The foothill area has a clayey matrix, which guarantees a better water reserve in the subsoil, which is extremely beneficial during long, dry summers.
