the cellar
Established by Leonardo Specogna in 1963, the winery is now managed by the third generation of the family. Thanks to careful zoning and closely monitored vineyard management, our explicit goal is to make wine growing more natural, reducing the number and quantity of phytosanitary treatments and safeguarding the microclimate in the area by protecting and conserving local woodland, plants and flowers, and wildlife.
Production zone FRIULI COLLI ORIENTALI
Friuli Colli Orientali is a DOC reserved for wines that can be produced in the province of Udine. The production zone, renowned since pre-Roman times for its characteristics of excellence, comprises 19 municipalities.
The hills of the Friuli Colli Orientali production zone enjoy a privileged geographical position for the development of viticulture. The Carnic and Julian Alps to the north shelter the vines from cold northern currents, while the Adriatic Sea to the south guarantees a constant flow of milder air. There are countless microclimates within the area: cooler and more humid in the northern part by the mountains; drier in the south where, as was the case centuries ago, olive trees grow and bear fruit alongside the vines.
